There are several reasons to do this that I have found helpful.
- Logging the little details of happy memories brings them back with a punch later on. For example, the way you felt after a night with someone you love or exactly how getting a promotion at work went down.
- Having these powerful memories logged in details helps you when you are feeling down.
- Logging past challengers helps you realize how far you have come, and logging current challengers gives you interesting perspective down the line.
*Writing about things you are going through is therapeutic in its own right.
Don't set a specific amount to update or anything like that. You want no stress associated with the doc. Just have it somewhere private but easily accessible. When logging, use as much detail in possible and don't worry about language or anything unless it will bother you next time you read it.
Be real, honest, and open with what you write. Put down your emotions, your feelings, and why you are writing about it.
Hope this helps others like it has helped me.
